I Hate Daily Kos? Do You?

My name is Lee Stranahan and hate Daily Kos more than you do. Prove me wrong.

So I log onto Twitter after a long shopping trip. I’m tired. And immediately, I notice some Andrew Breitbart Derangement Syndrome. People are attacking Andrew for a piece about Scott Olsen, who was injured in the #Occupy Oakland riots. They smear Andrew (he doesn’t edit video, isn’t a con artist in any way) to in order to un-smear Olsen? Okay, whatever. I know the game.

koswrong-tweets

I never want to see someone hurt. I hope Olsen recovers. However, I don’t know what happened factually. I know the left is lying about the protest being ‘peaceful’ and then when you point this fact out to them, they pretend they weren’t just lying about the ‘peaceful’ part and change the subject.

The cops started. The pigs deserved it. They responded unprofessionally. I have some thoughts about that but here’s my main thing on Oakland….

Get the facts right. There are facts. Get them right. First.

And the liberals IMMEDIATELY made Scott Olsen a victim of he police and a VET. A VET in capital letters. The left – not Olsen – made his service a central theme. So the story Andrew published claims that Olsen started a site called IHateTheMarineCorp.com. That’s not go to play well with his ‘VET image.

Okay, so I click over to the story….I screencapped it in case it changes but here’s the link.

And they sort of gloss over the IHateTheMarineCorp.com thing. Then at the end, they deny it totally.

kos-wrong

Wow! A friend of the Kos poster said the site doesn’t exist! That’s a SERIOUS charge. THAT is pretty messed up of Andrew Breitbart, saying an awful site like that was started by Scott Olsen, Lance Corporal in the Corp.

So I go to Archive.org and search for the site – total research time, 10 seconds. I am serious. 10 seconds. And look…

Ihate

OHHHHH! Look – it does exist! So that part about it not existing was an easily disproven lie – which SHOULD discredit that blogger, like…forever.

But it won’t. The Kos Kids WON’T CARE. The fact that they reprinted a lie – won’t matter. Facts? Won’t matter.

I really hate that .

  1. It’s all about spreading the meme. The meme was he was a soldier.

Meme spreading is what journalism has come down to and what O’keefe was revealing in his video about the NYT and Obama.

    Here’s another one http://oauth.twitter.com/#!/keachhagey/status/129681319235035136

Meme gets out the day after Olsen goes down that the Oakland Police chief resigned. Word gets out on the Occupy side- this is consolation and a victory for them and an admission that the Oakland PD did something wrong before the investigation is over [they very well may have].

One problem- the resignation was on October 11. To Weigel’s credit- he apologized and corrected himself, which is why he is respected by many on the right, despite being a weasel. Hagey has yet to correct it on her twitter stream and never will.

We’re all guilty of retweeting without clicking here and there, but professional journalists claiming neutrality should definitely have the rule of “Click and Read” before you spread.

  3. Scott Olson served two tours in Iraq & was deployed to combat zones. He was awarded seven medals in the Marine Corps including the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement medal & was discharged as a Lance Corporal. What rank did Breitbart achieve & where did he serve?

Scott cannot answer Breitbart’s smears because the Brocca speech center of his brain has been affected by being hit in the head w/ a tear gas cannister. He is unable to defend himself right now, but that doesn’t matter to Breitbart. He strikes while the kid is down & unable to communicate verbally.

Breibart never served a single day in the military.

  5. And Scott Olsen never started a major website or wrote a book.

People do different things. Facts are facts. Scott Olsen started that website. The Kos article said he didn’t. That was wrong. Deal.

  7. Yes, twats, he’s allowed to hate the military. He’s allowed to run his website. No one is arguing with what he’s allowed to do. The question is, if he did it, and that’s not a problem for you, then why do kossacks have to lie about him ever running the website?

And, since he’s allowed to hate the marines, aren’t we allowed to hate him for it? Or is only certain hate allowed?

  8. Mark, like rape, the left is only concerned when it is hate hate. Hate itself is okay, just like rape. But if it is rape rape, the left is incensed.

It may seem like a distinction without a difference, but it is not. Take for example rape in Zucotti Park. Because they are liberal protesters, it only rape. No big deal. Report it to the security committee of the GA, and they’ll clean it all up for you. However, when it is Duke Lacrosse, it is rape rape, well, because they are privileged, or white, or athletes or something.

  9. Using the leftard standard for objective, valid criticism, shouldn’t they have been a CEO on Wall Street before they are able to march around and disrupt society while kvetching about Wall Street CEOs? Scoot Olsen and his boosters are nothing more, nothing less, than poopy-diapered infants throwing temper tantrums. They have nothing to add to society and nothing to contribute to an informed discussion. If Scott Olsen had been injured at a Tea Party demonstration, they’d be hooting and hollering and reveling in the punishment of a conservative. Of course, Tea Partiers and conservatives don’t act like brain-dead d-bags like the crOccupiers act, so such a scenario is impossible.

  10. I love your reasoning…

“However, I don’t know what happened factually. ”

“Get the facts right. There are facts. Get them right. First.”

I love even more how you pick and choose what you want to call “facts” and ignore every other fact.

Your mother must be so proud.

  11. Gouji,
Reading comprehension classes not available in your area?

There are facts about HIS INJURY AND ARREST that are unknown. The fact that Scott Olsen started a website called ihatethemarinecorps.com is a KNOWN fact. That fact was being lied about on dkos. That’s what he’s correcting here.

The FACT that the blogger reprinted an easily proven lie without even so much as checking first should discredit said blogger.

If truth doesn’t matter to you, then why do you care in the first place?

  12. Anyone that imagines there isn’t mendacity, dishonest behaviour, and flagrant hypocrisy on both sides of the political fence is either hopelessly naïve or delusional. Both liberals and conservatives (as they like to call themselves, even though both terms are misnomers) have to be willing to admit when their “team” screws up or is just plain wrong about something. Too often however, their juvenile sense of partisanship prevents them from doing so and thus we end up with silly pissing matches and name-calling.

  13. Red Tory,
No one said there wasn’t. No one is saying one side is perfect (unless you’re a communist, in which case, “our side is perfect, its just that its never been truly tried before.”) But, are you seriously saying that there isn’t a difference in how the left treats their weaker links than how the right handles it?

You’re telling me there’s no difference in the way Mark Sanford was treated and the way John Edwards was? Hell, Edwards was such a colossal fuck up that the ONLY thing the left could do was to make up the story about Newt Gingrich divorcing his wife while she was hospitalized before that. Mark Sanford wasn’t even a goddam candidate, yet there were more stories in the news about his Argentina soul mate than there were about Rhielle Hunter, and NO ONE said a goddam thing about Edwards until a year later, not even during the time it mattered.

And Lee calls them out on both sides, while your answer seems to be… Accept it?
