I’ve had more time than most people to consider the implications of how more Anthony Weiner photos might effect various aspects of this story – so as the photos drip out over the next week (according to Breitbart) let’s think about what this all means.
With the new bombshells released by Breitbart by morning – as I write this, here and here and here – this gives more reasons that Patriot needs to come forward and explain who they are, not less. The story is no longer about whether one underwear photo sent to one woman was hacked or sent accidentally or something else. It’s now about clear confirmation that there’s a lot more going on here.
Patriot predicted weeks ago that a scandal was coming. Patriot had Mike Stack do the tweet about it, which would throw people off Patriot as the source of the rumor. And since then, Patriot has given various and changing explanations about where they supposedly heard about the ‘rumor’ – a rumor that is actually likely that they themselves started. So – what did Patriot know and when did they know it? And do they know more?
The revelation that there are more photos has implications on the great Patterico piece yesterday. We now know for a fact that Weiner had sent photos to other women – so, it’s time for Mediaite and reporter Tommy Christopher to reexamine their reporting, especially in light of the obvious problems with the timeline they presented.
I don’t know how many pieces critical of Rep. Weiner I need to write before some people stop pretending I want to take the focus off of Weiner’s own conduct. Of course, it goes without saying that Weiner himself has a lot of explaining to do – clearly, the most. Nothing I’ve said takes ANY focus off of Rep. Weiner – quite the opposite.

For those uninitiated to the genius that is Breitbart- this is how it works.
The lead stuff will be the most tame but will be suggestive enough to get Weiner to go on record and speak out one way or the other.
The idea is to give Weiner enough bait to get the hook stuck in his mouth. Unless Weiner is forthcoming, the trickle of scandalous material will grow ever more graphic and damning to Weiner’s character. At that point, Weiner will be left with no choice but to comment, one way or the other.
Think of it as a showdown at high noon, with Breitbart played by Eastwood and Weiner played by the goofy Zach Braff. Who will blink first?

What in the hell is it that you are talking about? I have no idea.
Here’s my theory on what happened. Personally I think the original story came from the underage girls that Mike and Dan were harassing, cyber-stalking, or as a journalist would call it investigating.
One of those two girls was willing to give up some DM’s on Weiner. Whether out of spite, jealousy, simple concern or fame we may never know. Any of the above could be motivation enough for a teenager. What we do know is their stories have changed completely and there is actual evidence to show they were either lying then or they’re lying now. My guess is they’re lying now since they face public scrutiny. Which admittedly they wanted to avoid.
Understanding human nature allows us to decipher that the original story and the accompanying tweets has the greatest ring of truth to it. It sounds just like a couple of teenage girls, they aren’t much of a mystery.
Now Dan and Mike were aware of all these young girls that Weiner was having convo’s with. From the minors tweets they could tell he was having actual conversations with them. They were probably trying to yank Weiners chain (I couldn’t help it) by tweeting the stuff about there being a big sex scandal on the horizon but they were also probably attempting to get the media spotlight on Weiner’s questionable tweeting habits. They were expecting the MBM (Make Believe Media) to possibly do some investigating. Then they would be in the position to hand over some damning evidence provided by one of the minors.
What they probably weren’t expecting was to get the dic pic. Here they had been sleuthing or cyber-stalking, which ever floats your boat, for however long and suddenly actual proof falls like manna from heaven. THE DIC PIC! They thought that that alone would be his undoing. Concrete proof that a married member of congress is sending lewd photos of himself to female followers. No one could avoid the story now, they had him with his own lewd tweet.
They thought they had the underage girls as corroborating evidence as to how disturbing Weiners behavior had been. With a college girl and a stripper as a sign of repetitive bad behavior. The trouble was they didn’t have all there ducks in a row when the dic pic surfaced. Would be informants changed their stories 180 degrees when it became real and suddenly everyone wants to know who Dan Wolfe is.
I think I understand what he’s so pissed about.
He works at outing a sleazy sitting member of congress through diligent observation and online communications . Then he thinks he’s got a slam dunk and suddenly no one believes any of it happened because they don’t know who he is. Even though all the important and damning evidence is right there in front of everyone’s faces.
On a side note even Mikes story has changed now that he’s be dragged into the light. I think to point the bright light of publicity on private individuals creates a fight or flight response. All those in the light have chosen flight. What ever they can say to get people to quit bother them they will. Mike tried to blame all of this on Dan. Suddenly Mike makes it sound like he’s got nothing to do with it, it was all Dan’s doing. Except Mike was a willing participant right up until his life gets splashed on TSG. Just like everyone else involved as soon as public exposure becomes a real issue they back away.
The real question is how far and wide is this going to spread? Could we be opening the door into Tiger Woods territory? I don’t know he set the bar pretty high.
I still don’t think who Dan Wolfe is is really all the important at this point in the game. Nixon resigned and nobody except one person knew who Deep throat was. If Deep Throat remained completely anonymous wouldn’t the damning evidence have been just as damning?

This either bothers you or it doesn’t. For me, it indicates extremely poor judgment. So poor that I don’t want this person being involved in the highest levels of government. It also exposes a powerful man, one who has impacts the lives of all of us, to blackmail and other coercion. So yeah, it bothers me and I want to know about it, whether R or D.
At this point, when we know at least the minimum of what Weiner did, what does the identity or story behind any of the other players matter? Let’s say Dan is an expert computer hacker. Weiner still sent sexy pics and messages to young ladies. Let’s say Dan is a paid operative of the Republican party. Weiner still sent sexy pics and messages to young ladies. We’re beyond the point that Dan’s or anyone’s lack of credibility would affect the fact that Weiner still sent sexy pics and messages to young ladies.
The only thing that’s going to happen with this story is that it gets worse for Weiner. We all kind of knew that these other emails and pics were going to surface, something Weiner’s bizarre interviews seemed to confirm. No, the next question is going to be if he acted on these sexual impulses or not.

Thing is, weiner didn’t do anything illegal (that I know of). He’s accusing someone else of doing something illegal. Which, if you believe in innocent until proven guilty, means weiner has to prove it. If I tell my insurance company that someone stole my big screen, they’ll ask if I’ve filed a police report. If I follow that with, “no, I don’t want to get the police involved, just take my word for it,” they would laugh as they put my policy through the shredder.
In this country, if you claim something illegal has happened, you have to prove that it happened. Some cases are easier than others (yup, you’ve got a bullet hole in you) but others (especially anything involving he said she said) need to be investigated. The investigation is carried out by police, not by private attorneys (which is a lot different than a private investigator). Attorneys (or for that matter, private investigators) don’t have the authority to serve a search warrant, interrogate a suspect, or do anything other than ask nicely.
The fact that I have to explain all this to you shows how willfully ignorant you’re choosing to be.
If breitbart was accusing weiner of breaking the law, the burden would be on breitbart. No law against being a douchebag husband, though.

I don’t think the endgame is whether Weiner had an affair or not. That he was sending pics, sexting and having phone sex (on the govt phone) is bad enough. If he won’t resign over that, revealing that he had an affair won’t make him resign either.
The real endgame is WHO he was having these online relationships with. If it turns out all the women involved were consenting adults he might survive. But IF there is a minor or even an 18 year old high schooler involved he is toast.
The informative Tiger Woods chapter in American cultural history comes to mind. With a single “indiscretion”, a single exposed case of bad judgment, Tiger and his marriage probably would have survived. Americans are forgiving and understanding people. They do understand that folks make mistakes and can learn from them and become stronger for them. But when it became clear that Tiger made a career of these other women, that it was almost a sickness with him, and when it became a media circus, his goose was cooked. (With both the public and his wife.) He will never be viewed with the same respect again, and apparently he will never be able to play golf the same again.
The same thing is happening with Weiner as each revelation surfaces. There is a pathology there with him and women that is readily apparent to reasonable people. Legal or illegal, Weiner’s behavior is simply not conducive to his being a trusted congressman, a tireless servant of his constituents, and an effective national democratic spokesman. Those few who are continuing to defend him at this juncture almost defy logic.
