Bill Schmalfeldt tweets that he refuses to release the name of the mystery ‘witness’ who took a photo of Aaron Walker yasterday outside a Howard County Maryland court. Schmalfeldt also admits that the person who took the picture is ‘The Watchful Avenger” and that they do not want their name revealed.
It’s a short-sighted move that seems destined to cause Schmalfeldt embarrassment when the name is inevitably revealed and it becomes obvious why Schmalfeldt isn’t revealing it.
Update: Bill Schmalfeldt appears to be claiming that he when he said “I don’t have to tell anybody who took the picture. Taking a picture of someone in public is not a crime. The Watchful Avenger does not want his actual name used. That’s his choice and I respect it. You do not need to know it.” that he was referring to more than one person.
It seemed to me that Mr. Schmalfeldt was referring to the “Watchful Avenger” as the person who took the photo. Rereading his statement, it still appears that way to me. Since Bill Schmalfeldt seems unlikely to clarify his statement or reveal the identity or his relationship to them, I have no way of knowing the truth but I’m printing Mr. Schmalfeldt’s statement to be fair.
