Huffington Post / AOL Buries #Weinergate Story

Okay, this will get me in trouble but here goes..

The  Huffington Post has finally posted something about this weekend’s evolving #Weinergate Story – but not on the national page, but buried in the much less read New York section.

And their judging by comments – readers noticed.

Huffington Post has buried next week’s top story. Amazing

and

Why is this a LOCAL story and not a headline story on the HP? That’s right, Weiner is the loudmouth liberal with a D next to his name.

and

It’s kind of shameful that HP is burying this story that broke on Saturday, and I have only heard about it because of comments in other stories. Clearly his account was hacked (Twitter seems notoriously easy to hack) but that doesn’t mean it isn’t news.

HuffPost Could Have Run The Story Two Days Ago & Chose Not To

This is the part that HuffPost won’t be thrilled with but I mention it because I think it proves some real bias going on…

After months of not blogging at Huffington Post because of their treatment of Andrew Breitbart, I decided this story was juicy / big enough that I wanted to get it out to the HuffPost audience. After all, Huffington Post had been great about publishing my John Edwards pieces.

So I submitted an article that I thought was good – my Would Your Spouse Buy It? article with an added introduction paragraph to explain the story…and note the date…

And I even emailed the blog team and HP editor Roy Sekoff…again, note the date

There’s no question in my mind that if the piece were about Paul Ryan or Michelle Bachmann sending out underwear photos, it would have been Frontpaged all weekend. But instead it got the spike

  1. One thing I’m thankful for in all of this, is that I’m seeing firsthand how the journOlist/liberal media whatever term you want to use, disseminates a story. That the DailyKos hack job, that was so easily proven wrong, spread so far into “legitimate” news outlets is astonishing. I mean I’ve read about this happening but never I have I seen it first hand like this.

  3. Weinergate is like a vaccination administered to the body politic. More or less harmless in itself, it serves to build anti-bodies against future bouts with seriously virulent MSM bacilli and spirochetes.

  4. I imagine the Huffington Post didn’t want to run it because it’s a pile of poorly written factless innuendo.

Even Drudge ain’t running with this bullshit. That should tell you all you need to know.

This hysteria just embarrasses Republicans and shows what a pack of sheep most of the rightwing blogs are. Cut it out.

  5. But huffpo did run with it, 2 days later as a buried story. So that kinda shoots down your theory, lee stranahan is a bought off hack.

And since when are photographs and confessions factless?

  6. Listen, “mark,” I’m not stupid, so don’t try it on, huh?

HuffPo didn’t run Stranahan’s story. How does it running a totally different angle days later shoot down my theory?

“And since when are photographs and confessions factless?”

A photograph precisely ONE person with a long-term grudge appears to have seen and which proves NOTHING in itself.

“Confessions”? Now you’re hallucinating. Citation for those? Didn’t think so.

What a factless waste of space.

Really? Haven’t started showing that yet.

    You’re a thug. Go away.

  8. The confession would be that it came from his yfrog and from his twitter, which he claimed was hacked through facebook, even though they don’t appear to be linked.

Second, they didn’t run Lee’s story, and when they did run the story at all, they put it in the new york section despite this being a national story.

Third, lee’s article wasn’t factless. He asked a simple question: would your spouse believe this? No? Well then journalists shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss it either.

Fourth, the only ones acting like sheep are you guys. Drudge isn’t running it, therefore it ain’t news. CNN says that breitbart edited the sherrod video to cut off her moment of redemption (which wasn’t edited out, and “I sent him to one of his own (white) people so he could get help” doesn’t exactly sound like redemption), so obviously breibart is lying now.

If breitbart said that the sky was blue, you’d claim he photoshopped it. Its getting old.

Lastly, there’s this wonderful thing called “the court of public opinion.” Just ask mel gibson about that one.

You want to know why drudge hasn’t run with it. We want to know why weiner hasn’t filed a police report. Obama just signed the extension of the patriot act, and political espionage would probably fall into the parameters.

I guess the real question is, when did the left start wholeheartedly trusting politicians? Kind of a far fall from where y’all were 10 years ago.

    Seriously, Lee. Get over yourself.
