@Weinergate: The Death Threat Black Hole

When a woman named Jenny G. contacted me on the phone, she told me that she’s gotten two death threats and that she had no idea what was going on. She repeated this claim to the Boston police in two forms; first, saying that I was the one who made the death threats and later telling a detective that it was one of my ‘followers’.

Here’s what she said when she called me; she claims to have been innocently living her life when out of the blue, two death threats came in to her answering machine. In a panic, she did some quick internet research, found me and then phoned me up. She said repeatedly that she had no idea what was going on and told me she wasn’t political at all and knew almost nothing about the “Weenie story’ except what she’d seen on shows like inside Edition and Access Hollywood.

I don’t believe there were any death threats. At all.

So – what are we left with? A giant hole in her story.

Don’t forget that Jenny claims to have no knowledge about the Weiner story. Even though she readily admits she started the @Starchild111 account, she claims to have no idea about the Nikki Reid sock puppet who was following at least three women connected to Anthony Weiner. She wasn’t following it online, she said. She didn’t have a Twitter account anymore, she said.

Is there any proof that Jenny G. is lying and that she was following the Weiner story closely?

There sure is – since there were no death threats, how did she find out that I’d mentioned her name?

Cue: Sound of a dog not barking.

  1. I’ve been thinking about this for a bit, and the only logical explanation for all of this seems to be that starchild was attempting something illegal (like blackmail the husband of the personal assistant to the Secretary of State) and that’s why they’re trying to deflect now.

Everyone seems to forget that “sex scandals” involving politicians matter for this exact reason. These are people with access to valuable information and power. Mr. Congressman, you will vote this way, or these pictures go to the press. Mr. Senator, you will allow us access, or your bathroom habits will be exposed. Mr. President, give us the codes, or we release the blue dress.

That’s why it matters. This person is jumping through so many hoops trying to divert attention, threatening people involved… This could very well be something far more nefarious than we originally thought.

  3. I think it was covered on Inside Edition.

I am pretty darn sure it wasn’t covered on Access Hollywood.

    Why did JG mention AH?

Because I used to work there.

  4. Mark @ 12:09 is exactly right.

    It’s not ‘Just about sex.’
It’s not, ‘Well, he didn’t break the law so I don’t see why it matters.’
It’s most certainly not, ‘This is a matter between him and his wife, and we should stay out of it.’

These people are - for better or worse - our elected representatives. They are privy to confidential information. They conduct business with heads of state, foreign corporations and trade representatives … on our behalf. Most important, they make decisions - on a daily basis - that impact us personally and professionally.

And when they do stupid shit like Weiner, Vitter, Craig, Sanford, Frank, Jefferson, Waters, Clinton (I could go on for quite some time) it compromises them. It compromises their office. It compromises us.

So think about that the next time you hear some jughead brush off the latest scandal because it’s ‘just about sex.’

    It’s not.

    Someone’s got a stalker…

Especially when you see how much these people do to avoid the truth. Weiner lied, accused others, tried to distract… People really think he wouldn’t have traded state secrets for the evidence to disappear. And that’s the scary part.

  6. Weiner compromised his position and it seemed to be rather well known to many of the inside politics players. I read somewhere that he dropped from the NY mayors races because one of his opponents threatened him to go public with his bad habits. I sometimes wonder, and this is more conjecture to throw on the conjecture pile, if it wasn’t the left itself cutting loose it’s loudmouthed loose cannon. I’m still going to throw out conjecture until it’s proven that Jenny in MA is the official culprit.

As far as I can tell a majority of Democrats party is being blackmailed into voting for things that are terrible for America. Or Democrats are just terrible for America.

  8. How does blackmail mesh with photos sent to Breitbart before the underwear tweet? Were the pictures identifiable? Could puppet have been holding back some key evidence that would positively link them to Weiner? Or might the pics have been sent *after* a blackmail threat was issued/ignored? I’m a relative noob trying to piece it all together, pls forgive if I’ve missed obvious stuff.

  9. As far as blackmail goes, I’m speculating that blackmail was the ulterior motive of starchild.

And then Weiner legitimately fucked up, and accidently posted a private message publicly. Someone noticed, and badabing, national story.

Now, if you were attempting something illegal, you might try to lie about who you are, blame others, or threaten the safety of a frikken blogger.

I’m just sayin… Not making accusations, just speculating.

  10. I have no problem with informed speculation. But if you blackmail, you need something to blackmail with. And if you send pics to Breitbart, you’ve compromised your ability to blackmail. So how does that fit into a theory. What were Breitbart’s sources and what pics did he have when, sent by whom? Can someone fill me in on this?

  11. His source seemed to be this patriot character, while starchild was the (supposed) blackmailer. As far as this theory is concerned, anyway.

I have a fairly radical hypothesis on this, so please hear me out.

Weiner is the type of guy who, when he starts thinking with his penis, becomes pretty startlingly stupid. Someone got hold of some pictures. So did someone else. And, you know, several other someones. In fact, he probably sent pictures to dozens, if not hundreds, of women (fake, real, of-age, & not of-age) if you realize that he wasn’t just on twitter. Most of them were willing participants, a few of them probably deleted the pictures in disgust, and at least one passed the pictures on to a certain openly anti-leftist (gasp!) journalist.

The odds that another recipient would attempt blackmail, & then blunder around foolishly when everything else started to fall apart doesn’t seem so far fetched to me. There needn’t be any particular connexion to anyone else in the story, but just an unhealthy need to hurt other people would provide enough motivation to satisfy the level of curiosity I have. It would be utterly hilarious to see them convicted for filing false police reports, though.

  13. Stark, at this point, bringing in Martians wouldn’t seem that far-flung to me. My problem may be in trying to ascribe rational action to an irrational actor. I am liking your hypothesis.

  14. How screwed up in the head would wiener have to be to send out new pictures of his junk to a stranger whilst in the middle of being blackmailed for sending out earlier pictures of his junk to a different stranger?

  15. Del,
For my theory to work, Weiner didn’t know he was being set up. This starchild cat was trying to collect info to start blackmailing, but then Weiner screwed up.
